Back to the Future

After having plenty of impressions over the weekend, I could not help but to start this blog up once again. I am having a rough time deciding whether to keep a full on personal journal or doing more of a summary that can be read for others. In the mean time, I feel I need to write down a few experiences to at least put my mind at ease.

We had an amazing lesson today in combine relief society and priesthood meeting about the brutal reality that our kids face day to day. Everyone in the room was taking notes and people acted very emotional. Those types of lessons do not come very often. The instruction was given by a Seminary teacher from Hunter High. It reminded me of my days in seminary and institute and how much I loved learning about the Gospel. I am so grateful for a wife and wonderful children. I can only hope that we can lead them through this dark world.

Rachel and I had a great talk tonight to set goals for our family. I love her very much and I am glad we have that relationship where we can freely discuss these things. I have a great life!

Random thought: Why do people bear their testimonies and start by saying, "I don't like to share my emotions.." Yes you do, or why would you get up and cry every month?

Back from the Lake

Bear Lake that is. The bluest, most beautiful lake in Utah... in my opinion. The trip was too fast yet just enough at the same time. Not enough time at the Lake itself but TOO much time sleeping on the friggin ground. I must be getting old because two nights in a tent, even a foam pad, just about killed me. We got plenty of riding (and wrecking) the two Waverunners and two 4-Wheelers that we had. It was a blast! Future reminder: DO NOT TAKE more than 1 Dramamine for motion sickness. I took two on the day we went to the lake and all I was missing was the Disco Ball and tye dye shirt to get the full druggy experience. Man, that stuff is lethal. I did operate some heavy machinery (4 wheeler) under the You can check out the photos here .

Also, I forgot to post the few photos from the 4th of July. For legal reasons, none of the pyromania was caught on film :-) Check them out here .

Random thought: WHY do people with hundreds of miles of lake to ride on have to drive their boats right next to the shore!? With people swimming and kids playing right there it is just stupid. Are they trying to show off? If so, I don't care how big/cool/expensive your boat is and I am sure 90% of the people on the beach don't care either. But there was this one speed boat that drove by... MAN that thing was loud, fast and SWEEET. Oh wait, I wasn't supposed to care :-)

Back for mooooore?

Just had my 2nd Greek Dish: Beeftieke. I guess it's like a Gyro that has beef instead of lamb. It was fantastic! Loving the Greek stuff.

1st thought of the day: Why do people feel it necessary to make obvious statements to make small talk? "So.. guess it's pretty hot out there today." "Yep." "So, looks like your wearing your yellow shirt today." "Yep."

2nd though of the day: Ever wonder about sugarless products? Aspartame = Nutrasweet. It deemed UNSAFE by health officials before the Reagan Administration. Reagan fired the health official and had it approved safe for consumption. The ONLY documented health study was done by MIT University.... FUNDED by none other than Nutrasweet Inc. The latest product in the sugarless world is Sucralose (Splenda). It is made by cholorinating sugar. Interesting. Think of all the sugarless things we Americans eat and drink. I hope it is safe...

Soulvaki and Baklava

Yessir, I tried Greek Food for the first time ever today. In my 27 years of existence I have never actually "gone to get Greek". Well, I had pork soulvaki and it was fantastic. I also had baklava for dessert.

What does this all mean? Food with ugly names can still be good food.

And in the beginning...

For some, writing by hand in a hardcover journal is sufficient. For some, keeping a journal in Microsoft Word works great. For me, I have found that Blogging might be a much more efficient and interesting way to perserve the events of my life. I will try to keep this interesting and entertaining yet it is difficult to cater to everyone's interests. I will be sharing funny, interesting, weird, religious, boring, whatever I experience or whatever happens to me. If what you read is mundane and boring, scroll up and I bet you'll eventually find something interesting.

So I went to the store super early to buy some milk for my gourmet breakfast (Cheerios) and some guy was buying a 20 oz soda, beef jerky and.... 10 packs of Wintergreen Lozenges. Yeah, the big generic ones that are like 69 cents a piece of 2 for a dollar. I would like to file this under the "What the freak!?" folder. But I guess if you drink a pop and eat beef jerky at 8am, you WILL need those lozenges. Ahhh.. the American diet.

Random thought of the day: If you have never watched Reno 911 on Comedy Central, do yourself a favor and check out the 1st Season is on DVD.
